RISE Together for Change

"Be the Butterfly"

On April 23rd, 2022, UIF Sophia collaborated with a youth empowerment organization called RISE and hosted a workshop at Seisen International School's annual TEDx event. The theme of the event, "Be the Butterfly," was based on the butterfly effect – the notion that even our seemingly small and insignificant actions can have large-scale, meaningful impacts. Building upon this theme, we delivered a 40-minute workshop called "RISE Together for Change" for 60 middle school and high school students at Seisen.

Self-Confidence

We aimed to inspire confidence within participants by helping them to recognize their skills, strengths, and the potential that lies within them.

Actionable Steps

We aimed to guide students in identifying the actions they can take individually and collectively to solve problems impacting their lives.

Sense of Solidarity

We aimed to nurture a sense of solidarity and connection among students by reminding them that they are not alone in taking a step forward.

Our Workshop Objectives

Rising Together

Through our workshop, the participants were able to identify problems that impact them directly, to brainstorm ways they can solve the problems by bringing together their unique strengths and ideas, and to develop team mission statements as an opportunity to recognize the power in taking action alongside others.
